Our tips for protecting your enamel

Effect of acids on enamel

Food, acidic drinks, reflux or vomiting temporarily soften the surface layer of enamel, making it more vulnerable to abrasion during immediate brushing.

Recommendation after exposure to acids

Rinse mouth with water and wait 30 to 45 minutes before brushing, to give saliva time to neutralize acid and remineralize enamel.

The role of fluorine

Regular use of fluoride products (gels, mouthwashes) promotes remineralization and protects enamel against acids, but you must follow the instructions, as fluoride can be toxic in excess.

frequently asked questions

Yes, light bleeding is common in the hours following an extraction, oral surgery or implant. Place sterile gauze over the area and bite down gently for 20-30 minutes to promote coagulation. If bleeding persists beyond 24 hours or intensifies, contact us immediately.

Avoid rinsing vigorously for the first 24 hours to avoid dislodging the blood clot. Instead, opt for a gentle mouthwash with warm salt water after 24 hours, as prescribed by your dentist.

Choose soft, cold foods for the first few days: yoghurts, smoothies, purées, warm soups. Avoid hot, spicy, acidic drinks or crunchy/hard foods that could irritate the area. Gradually return to a normal diet, following our advice.

No, we strongly advise against smoking or drinking alcohol for at least 72 hours (ideally a week), as this delays healing and increases the risk of infection and bleeding.

Wait at least 48 to 72 hours before any moderate physical activity, and a week for intense sports, to avoid an increase in blood pressure that could cause bleeding.

Yes, at the end of the procedure, we’ll give you written instructions tailored to your specific case, including long-term follow-up for caries, wear, erosion or implants.
